Mr. Chris Verwijst was former treasurer of our first division team the Tilburg Trappers from 1972 till 1975.
After his death (august 12th 1976) his friend now our Tournament president Mr. Henk Maas sr. organised a junior ice hockey team tournament in his remembrance. In the years that followed the Chris Verwijst Tournament popularity grew enormously.
Teams from all parts of Europe, Canada, U.S.A. and even a team from South Africa have participated in this yearly event.
The tournament organisation committee and all of the people involved in the organisation are solely run by hockey minded enthusiasts and volunteers, this accounting for the tournaments great success.
Many of the participants of the past tournaments have gone on to have successful careers in hockey.
We hope that this site will bring back memories to all, which have made the Audax Chris Verwijst Tournament the success it is today.
